10th Charity Golf Day Results image

Friday 1st July saw our 10th SO45 Charity Golf Day take place at Dibden Golf Course raising money for The Waterside Cancer Support Centre organised each year by Michael & Donna Osman.

Well, what a day! Our hope this year was to take the total we have raised in 10 years for local good causes, charities and projects to 100k.  Before the day our total raised from golf days alone was 56k and 92k combining other events.

WE DID IT......   The total raised from the day was an amazing £12,500 taking our totals to £104,500

Thank you so much for all the efforts of every single player who not only took part but contributed with buying raffle tickets and auction prizes.  Every year you amaze us with your spirit and generosity. Of course, our loyal local business sponsors who most have been with us from the beginning, those who donated auction prizes which really does help increase the money we can raise, those who donated raffle prizes and all our wonderful volunteers on the day.  Please see the full list below.

ON THE DAY - 115 golfers took part in this years event including Saints legend Matthew Le Tiss & Nicky Banger. All attempting to be crowned champion golfer and win the prestigious Paul Brogan Memorial Trophy.

Paul a local man and a keen golfer sadly lost his life to cancer in 2012 and as he was a friend and a part of a local golf society. We asked his family if we could name our main trophy in his memory and they were happy to do so.

The 18 hole golf tournament started with Bacon rolls in the club with gradual registration throughout the morning with Donna Osman & Justine Harnett.  Players then according to their tee off time either headed to the driving range for that last minute practise or headed to the first tee.  During the day a gazebo with cold refreshements were served as well as on the golf buggy around the course thanks to our volunteers Lisa Elkins, Katherine Pinckney, Michaela Von Landau & Jane Clayden.  Once players finished their 18 holes they were then greeted back at the clubhouse with a BBQ.  At around 6.30pm ish the presentation began.   This kicked off with a speech from founder Michael Osman followed by a speech from Ann at The Waterside Cancer Centre.  The fun and games then began with a game of head 'n' tails, raffle, auction conducted by our compere Marc Daniels and the Trophy presentation conducted by Michael Osman.  What an atmosphere!  The room was filled with so much energy all wanting the same outcome which we all achieved together.

The handicap Secretary Marc Daniels worked hard verifying and recording the scores from the day until the presentation, then the winner of the 10th SO45 Charity Golf Day winning the Paul Brogan Memorial Trophy and presented by Paul Brogan's Dad Chris Brogan was announced to be Jim Wilden. CONGRATULATIONS!
